Information for buyers

Peace of mind inclusive: optional buyer protection

When people first shop online they are often very nervous of the whole business and worried about non-delivery of their goods. Optional buyer protection provides them with payment security whenever the "Sofort" payment option bears the buyer protection symbol.

Secure shopping or your money back: buyer protection from Deutsche Handelsbank

In collaboration with Sofort GmbH, under its brand Deutsche Handelsbank Deutsche Kontor Privatbank AG offers buyer protection on payments made using "Sofort". Buyer protection gives you the customer peace of mind in the form of a money-back guarantee in the event of non-delivery. "Sofort" buyer protection transforms cash in advance online shopping into a money for goods transaction, protecting customers and benefiting reputable online retailers.

Your purchase is only protected if the "Sofort" payment option bears the buyer protection symbol.

For details of the buyer protection scheme please consult Deutsche Handelsbank’s buyer protection terms and conditions.

Buyer protection: Protection against non-delivery

If you make your payment using "Sofort" plus buyer protection, rather than being transferred directly to the retailer your payment is lodged in a trust account at Deutsche Handelsbank and the amount is not passed on to the retailer until 14 days have elapsed. During this period the buyer can make a payment protection claim for non-delivery.

Important note for buyers: Delivery delays may occur from time to time with any retailer. If a retailer notifies you of an impending delay after you have ordered and paid, if in doubt please ensure that you make your buyer protection claim within the required period. If a retailer warns you of a delay this does not prolong the buyer protection period. Once you have made a buyer protection claim the two parties have the opportunity to reach a settlement, but you do not thereby lose your buyer protection.
